Trivia And Ice Cream Go Hand In Hand

STEVENS POINT -- "It's kind of an enigma. I've never hear of anything like this anywhere else around."

But Cole Racine's business 'Belts' Soft Serve' thrives off 'Trivia.' Especially when competitors get hungry.

"The food is almost as important as the trivia contest." Racine says, "A lot of teams will send a person over and get 30-40 items for their whole trivia team."

And because trivia never stops, Belts' has to stay open later too.

"About 5 years ago, we started staying open until 1:30. We, typically, close at 10. But, a lot of the trivia folks are up all night. So, they come and get ice cream." Racine says.

Trivia player, Eric Heidenreiter says, "We had a guy drive last night. He got off work at 10:30, got here by Midnight from Green Bay and had to go back the next day. He left at 4 in the morning."

So, since trivia is legendary to the area and so is Belts'; you'd think the two go hand in hand.
They do.

Racine says, "The question used to be, 'How many billions upon billions has McDonald's served?' When it hit 99 billion, he stopped asking that question then he changed it to 'What's on the South side of the Belts' sign?

This year? It's Oz For President. But in other years, Belts' has been a part of trivia as well.

"I remember one year, one of the questions was 'How many ounces are in an Airhead?' We've always sold Airheads." Racine says, "But, we probably fielded 50 calls in a matter of 2 minutes. It turned out, I was answering calls, '1.7 ounces. 1.7 ounces."
