Trivia team has gourmet chef

Trivia team insider
Team Name: Beer Eye for the Caker Guy (the Cakers), submitted by Shannon
Semmerling
How the team got its name: It started as a group of 90FM alumni in a team
called Splash Goes The Stone.
The team name (the Cakers) is derived from a comedic answer called in during
the second year the team played, when comedic answers were more the norm and
a finish in the top 300 was considered a major achievement. It's sort of an
urban legend. The question was about a baseball poem called "Casey at
Bat." The only thing they could think of that would rhyme with
"Casey" and "bat" was cake. Somehow, it became our team
name.
How many players are on the team: About 35
How long they've played: 15 years
The highest the team has placed: 13th
Their most-prized reference tool: While our reference library has grown
quite a bit from the first year, when an outdated Brewers media guide was
all we had, it is our internal information, which will yield no Trivia
answers whatsoever, that probably gets people most excited.
Team traditions: In commemoration of that first year, the Cakers publish our
own media guide. There's also the menu concocted by the man we call Iron
Chef Wayne, which this year features grilled salmon with mango chutney and
oven-roasted eggplant and tomato rigatoni.
Group attendance of the Trivia movie including a ceremonial shout of
"Go Cakers!" A wide array of jerseys and other Caker merchandise.
Number retirement ceremonies for people who have played 10 years (players
get a patch commemorating the accomplishment and their name engraved on the
Caker Stein of Fame). Closing ceremonies, in which a team MVP and a Support
Award winner is named. And, of course, Serious Time, held every evening at
8:30 p.m., in which determination is made as to whether or not the team has
enough beer and liquor to get us through until the liquor stores reopen in
the morning.
High point of your team's career: Every time this group of friends gets
together, it is nothing but high points. We love 90FM and the Trivia
contest, and we're proud of our showings in recent years, but we truly
measure success by the pure joy of seeing one another for this crazy weekend
that encourages mayhem, sleeplessness, shouting, dancing and, above all,
laughter.
Low point of your team's career: With a team of 35 people, there really is
no lull or down time.
