Same 50-man team wins Stevens Point trivia contest
(Stevens Point-AP) - The team that won
this weekend's trivia
contest in Stevens Point also won last
year -- but under a
different name.
The 50-man team called itself "Being
Bud Somerville" this year
in what's billed as "the world's
largest trivia contest.''
Last year, the same group won calling
themselves "C-N-O-F-54:
Runnin' Out of Time.''
Many members are veterans of the
contest which has been running
for 31 years.
"Being Bud Somerville'' soundly beat
first-runner up "N-E-2-R-K,'' which has also won
numerous times over the years
under the name "Network.''
Radio station W-W-S-P at the
University of Wisconsin-Stevens
Point hosted the marathon, asking 432
questions on the air from
Friday night to midnight Sunday. Teams
had to call in their answers.
This year drew 466 teams with more
than 11,800
participants.
