CNOF, playing as Being Bud Somerville, won the April, 2000 University of Wisconsin—Stevens Point “World’s Largest Trivia Contest.” CNOF also won the 1999 contest.

Being Bud Somerville accumulated 11,060 points in playing “Trivia Y2K: The Bug Strikes” easily beating the second place team by a margin of 1755 points. Being Bud Somerville led the entire contest.

An Associated Press story incorrectly said Being Bud Somerville had “50 team members.” The actual number of team members was approximately 28. The story was also incorrect about the number of questions asked. There were 423 questions asked, not 432. However, if you add in the Music Questions, the Running Questions, and the Trivia Stone questions, you would have 450 questions. But who’s counting.

Starting at 6:00 p.m. on the Friday of Trivia weekend and continuing for 54 straight hours, questions are broadcast from the University of Wisconsin—Stevens Point’s radio station WWSP (89.9). Eight questions are asked each hour and teams have two songs worth of time to call in with the correct answer. Teams are allowed only one call and only one guess for each question. The team with the most points at the end of the contest wins. Question point values are determined by the number of teams submitting a correct answer.

The next contest will be held April 20-22, 2001.
